Sept 1st – 8th 2012 $1,350
Join me on a journey of self discovery in the sacred land of the Inca. We will be visiting sacred sites throughout Peru, following ancient Incan ceremonial procession deigned to renewing the soul and reclaiming the essential self.
DAY 1: Cusco Pick Up
Reception upon arrival to Cusco Airport, and transportation to the Hotel where we will receive an aromatic coca tea to help us acclimate to the height. We will have the day to rest. I suggest you have a light lunch in one of the surrounding restaurants. At 7 pm we will meet at the hotel to go over the work we will be undertaking. Overnight (No meals)
Day 2: Karpay Ayni—Reciprocal Exchange of Personal Power.
We begin with the Karpay Ayni Ceremony. A full day ritual beginning at the sacred geographic center of the Andean region, the central cathedral of Cusco. The Cusco Cathedral is a Baroque-style cathedral built on the foundations of the palace of the Inca Wiraqocha in Cusco. This ritual activates our Inca Seed and begins the process of spiritual growth.
From there we will travel to ILLAPTA (Place of Light): This sacred site, or Waka, is the site of a number of ritual ceremonies, such as the “Pagapuy Andino”, an offering to Pachamama, designed to thank, petition, heal, expand, or whatever the believer is seeking, for Pachamama always wants the best for her children. Here we will perform a karpay despacho connecting to the energies of the Apu, nusta and other nature beings asking for their blessings and support in our initiation.
Then onto AMARU MACHAY : This means the “Cave of the Serpents”, and the site is an enigmatic subterranean altar with an impressive magnetism. It is part of the geomagnetic network of Seq’es, or natural electromagnetic lines, and represents the uterus of Mother Earth, or Pachamama, and here one can experience the birth of consciousness in the depths of Pachamama herself.
TAMBO MACHAY: In Quechua Tambo Machay means “the cave of rest”, and this is one of the most important sacred sites in Inca culture. Its three central ceremonial fountains were used in the Challado ritual (consecration by holy water) and visitors today can experience these sacred springs. We will be using the Tiana (a sacred seat carved into the rock), to perform a ritual of projecting our essence into our future -to the time we return to the mystery
Q’ENQO: An impressive ancestral temple with two principal altars, one subterranean and symbolizing Uku Pacha, the origin of life, the uterus of Pachamama, the other Hanan Pacha, which links us to heaven via a phallic stone obelisk representing the sun, who fertilizes Mother Earth.
Day 3: Wiñay—Germination.
Breakfast. We will be picked up at 8:00am.
Full day excursion to the Urubamba Valley visiting: Huacarpay Lake is best known now for the wonderful views of birds that lovers of nature enjoy.
Urpicancha means “field of wild doves” in Quechua. These terraced ruins on the east banks of the Waton Lagoon, Huacarpay is the birthplace of the Inca Huascar. The ruins of his palace are situated on the south western edge of the biggest of the three lakes forming Huacarpay.
Then off to the sacred geography of Pisaq, ending in the magical intact Inca city of Ollantaytambo to perform the ritual of Wiñay: Germination. Here, the rituals allow us to feed our Inca seed with all the living energies of the elements, sun, wind, earth, water, allowing it to sprout and begin to grow.
Day 4: Phutuy –Flowering.
Early breakfast and pickup to go the train station to depart to Machu Picchu, the trip takes about 4 hours. During the trip we will have an amazing view of the landscapes of the Sacred Valley of Urubamba and the Amazon rainforest providing you a small hint of how much Peru has to offer. Upon arrival to the little town of Aguas Calientes we will catch the bus to Machupicchu the “Lost City of the Incas” (Only 20 minutes ride). We arrive to the glorious organic architecture that is Machu Pikchu–taking in this monument to the wondrous collaboration of human and nature intelligence. Here we begin our sacred work of Phutuy: flowering ritual.
Sept 5th – PERU TRIP EXTENDED!
Tour of Moray
Pick up from Hotel early in the morning and travel to the town of Maras, where one can see the snowy mountain of the Incas Sacred Valley and the Vilcabamba River. At present this district keeps the old pre-Hispanic, colonial and republican style, highlighting people in the colonial doorways with coats of the nobles and chieftains from the sixteenth and twentieth century’s.
Split the town of Maras two routes, one to the archaeological complex of Moray and the other to the salt mines of Maras, each with an approximate distance of 4 km.
MORAY: Archaeological group unique in the region. It is famous for its sunken amphitheater, formed by four circular terraces which seem to disappear within the highlands, by way of an artificial crater. Apparently, the place was an Inca agricultural research center dedicated to the experimentation of cultures around the different altitudinal levels of the plots (some more than 100 m deep). The terraces, retaining walls built on and filled with fertile soil and watered by complex irrigation systems, allowed to grow more than 250 plant species.
The gallery has a depth greater than 45 m and the average height of each platform is 1.80 m. It is considered that the site was an important center of agricultural experimentation during Inca times. Through the use of concentric terraces because the temperatures at each level are different from each other, have played all the ecological zones covered by the rule of Tawantinsuyo.
Besides being considered by Incas as a place of concentration of female energy, it is also considered a magnetic center of the Pachamama.
Sept 6th
Free day to explore Cuzco
Sept 7th
We will pick you up from your hotel at 7:45 am to travel to the South Valley visiting:
TIPON: This beautiful set of agricultural terraces, long stairways and canals carved in stone is located about 20 km southwest of the city (45 minutes). According to legend, Tipon is one of the royal gardens ordered of construction by Wiracocha. It consists of twelve terraces flanked by stone walls and huge terraces perfectly polished; these are quite large and as one moves, shrink, as well as canals and ornamental waterfalls.
Apparently, Tipon was part of the real estate of Yahuarhuaca while a place dedicated to religious worship and agricultural experimentation.
Highlights of the harmony achieved greatly in the conduction of water through the fine stone structures as aqueducts, some of them underground or falls gullies.
PIKILLAQTA: The complex includes the city itself plus another 23 sets associated with closeness and functionality, containing historic Muyna Wakarpay lagoon, with a suggestive landscape considered one of the most beautiful in the world. Pikillaqta was built during the heyday of the Wari culture AD 500 or 900 years. This great urban and ceremonial center of almost 2 km long, consists of a citadel surrounded by ramparts and walls up to 7m. in height. There are numerous deposits qolqas or barns and buildings in almost every small stones have been used together with mud.
In some precincts were small idols in turquoise on display at the museum Inca. Pikillaqta stands as a massive set of stone structures concentrated on a hill overlooking the beautiful lagoon of Lucre. Pikillaqta fleas or city, is perhaps the greatest pre-Inca city in the region and its name derives from the presence of numerous compounds of only 4 m square which apparently belonged to a military garrison.
ANDAHUAYLILLAS: Is a cozy village with a warm climate rather benign as a result of being surrounded by mountains and the left bank of the river “Vilcanota” below which is called “Urubamba” lands have a privileged fertility and its people are quiet and friendly.
In its vast main square, adorned with “rams” and palm trees is their most valuable jewel: the colonial church of Andahuaylillas, considered the “Sistine Chapel” of the Americas, the quality of the work of art that are in their interior. That church was built on some important Inca constructions, possibly a “Waka” as the foundation of the church were made with carved and sites own religious Quechua architecture, turn around are the remains of other Inca constructions, highlighting the cover of transitional architecture (transition from colonial to Inca) on the western side of the church with sculptures of two quadrupeds in its lintel.
